Match Prediction – Pak vs WI, 2nd ODI 2022 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Pakistan will take on West Indies in the second of the three-match ODI series at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Pakistan defeated West Indies by five wickets in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Visitors West Indies had won the toss and decided to bat first. Although Kyle Mayers lost his wicket very early, Shai Hope and Sharmarh Brooks stitched a 154-run stand to put the visitors in a comfortable position. Hope went on to scored 127 off 134 deliveries while Brooks fell 30 runs short of a century.

Following their dismissals, the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, and Romario Shepherd tried to accumulate quick runs and West Indies ended up with a strong score of 305/8. Haris Rauf was the most successful bowler for Pakistan with four wickets at an economy rate of 7.70. Shaheen Afridi picked up the wicket of Mayers and also bowled a maiden over while Shadab Khan delivered 10 overs at an economy rate of 3.70.

The Pakistan run-chase also followed a similar script as the West Indies batting effort in the first innings. They lost Fakhar Zaman early but Imam ul Haq and Babar Azam quickly recovered to build a strong foundation. Imam and Mohammad Rizwan scored half-centuries while the unstoppable Pakistan captain notched up yet another century in his glittering career, scoring four centuries in his last five ODI innings.

He also found support from Khushdil Shah’s explosive 41 not out off 23 deliveries as Pakistan reached the target in the final over and with five wickets in hand. Alzarri Joseph, who picked up two wickets, including Babar Azam, was the highlight of the West Indies bowling unit. Akeal Hosein was extremely economical.

West Indies and Pakistan have played 134 ODIs matches against each other. The visitors have the upper hand with 71 wins while the hosts have claimed 60 victories.

Who will win today’s match – Pakistan vs West Indies, 2nd ODI, West Indies’ Tour of Pakistan?

Pakistan are an extremely dominant side on home soil, as was evident in the first ODI. They are well-rounded in all departments and have a great balance in the squad. Batters like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been on a strong run of form while the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Imad Wasim can do plenty of damage with the ball.

However, West Indies are capable of their fair share of surprises. The orchestrated batting effort, led by Shai Hope’s century, offered hope and the visitors will look for something similar once again. Alzarri Joseph has also been phenomenal lately.
