Delhi Capitals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 50th match of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Delhi Capitals have been pretty inconsistent this season and they are sixth in the table. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s streak of five consecutive wins has now been followed by two back-to-back losses.
Delhi Capitals have had a pretty topsy turvy campaign this season. They have had the pressure of hygiene lose and have struggled for consistent results. Capitals have won four of their nine matches and with 8 points to the bag they are sixth in the IPL 2022 table. They also have the highest net run rate of +0.587 this season which is expected to come hand in the race for the playoff spots.
DC lost their most recent match against Lucknow Super Giants by six runs. KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda slammed half centuries to take LSG to a comfortable total of 195/3. While Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Mitchell Marsh tried their best, they couldn’t show enough intent in tie and ended up losing the match with Mohsin Khan taking a four-wicket-haul.
Sunrisers Hyderabad went on a sensational five-match winning streak before it came to a close. They’ve lost both their matches since then, which might be a slight cause of concern in the race for the playoff spots. SRH are fourth in the IPL 2022 table with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.471.
SRH ended up falling short by 13 runs against Chennai Super Kings who were playing their first IPL 2022 match under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway stitched 182 runs for the first wicket which comfortably took CSK past the 200-run mark. Although Sunrisers tried their best with the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma firing, the CSK bowlers led by Mukesh Choudhary managed to get the job done.
The two teams have played 20 matches against each other in the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad hold the advantage with 11 wins while Delhi Capitals also have nine victories to their name.
Wins: Delhi Capitals 9, Sunrisers Hyderabad 11
Last 5 matches: Delhi Capitals 3, Sunrisers Hyderabad 2
This might be a difficult result to predict as both sides are pretty evenly matched. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be desperate to recover from the recent slump in form, while Delhi Capitals are striving for a sustained run of results. Former SRH captain David Warner, who had a very public fallout with the Sunrisers Hyderabad management last season, will be eager to have the last laugh with his new franchise. Check out DC vs SRH prediction to know more about the history between these sides.
David Warner and Prithvi Shaw provide a lot of impetus and security up top. However, their middle-order has looked pedestrian. DC will also rely heavily on Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, and Axar Patel with the ball.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are expected to turn towards captain Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma at the top of the order. The likes of Rahul Tripathi, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram are also capable of hitting the big shots. Umran Malik needs to exhibit more control along with his frantic pace while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan have been reliable.
T Natarajan has returned to his best form following a comeback from injury. He has scalped 17 wickets in nine matches and will also be expecting crucial breakthroughs in this game.
Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant, and Kuldeep Yadav could prove to be in contention for the man of the match award. For SRH, Kane Williamson, Washington Sundar and T Natarajan are expected to be in the running.
Despite joining the team late, David Warner has already become the highest scorer for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. He has smacked 264 runs in seven games and would love nothing more than to get one back and win his side the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad after all the controversy last season.
Abhishek Sharma has been in excellent form for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season and he has formed a wonderful partnership with opening partner Kane Williamson. With 324 runs from nine matches, Abhishek is third in the Orange Cap list and will be hoping to sustain his form.
