The 11th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season will take place on March 30 (Saturday) between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings. This will be the first home game of the season for the Giants and is scheduled to be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium with the match set to start at 7:30 PM IST.
LSG started their campaign in IPL 2024 with a loss at the hands of Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs. On the other hand, the Kings, led by Shikhar Dhawan, have won and lost a game each so far this season. They lost their previous game to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the last over thriller. Both teams will be keen on churning two points out of this encounter and keep progressing in the points table.
Today’s match prediction for the IPL matches continue as we do the analysis of both teams in action:
Lucknow Super Giants are one of the only three teams this season so far to not have registered a win. Things didn’t go to plan for them against the Rajasthan Royals in their season opener.
There is loads of talent in their line up in the form of Quinton de Kock, Devdutt Padikkal, Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis all of whom didn’t click in the previous game. LSG would want to quickly get on the board to shrug off the early jitters of the season.
Nicholas Pooran batting at six was surprising to see in the 194-run chase in the previous game. The left-hander is immensely popular for his hitting skills in the shortest format and can win matches single-handedly if he gets going.
He got going in the last match as well scoring an unbeaten 64 off 41 balls but there was little to no support at the other end. Pooran will be looking to finish the game this time around if he gets an opportunity.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya is known for his accuracy and he showed it off in the previous game. Krunal can tie up the batters with dot balls and make run-scoring tough for the opposition.
He returned with figures of 0/19 in his four overs and was unlucky not to get any wickets. His spell will be crucial again for LSG if they are to restrict the aggressive PBKS batters.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Punjab Kings got their campaign off to a brilliant start beating the Delhi Capitals by four wickets. But Virat Kohli’s brilliance and Dinesh Karthik’s finishing skills didn’t let them win the second game.
The Kings have players like Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada, skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Jitesh Sharma in their line-up and they can destroy any opposition on any given day.
If the team plays to its potential, they can beat any side on the day and for the same reason, the Kings will be looking for some consistency from the players.
Shikhar Dhawan continues to be the key batter for Punjab Kings. He has so far scored 67 runs in two matches opening the innings with the high score of 45.
The left-hander will be gutted to not have converted starts in both matches. The game against LSG is a perfect chance for Dhawan to set things up nicely with the bat leading from the front for his side.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Kagiso Rabada is one of the best bowlers in the PBKS squad and he has proved himself time and again in the format. The fast bowler from South Africa did well in the previous game against RCB picking up two wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs.
Prior to that encounter, he had conceded 36 runs for a wicket. Rabada’s spell up front and at the back end will be key if the Kings are to restrict the opposition.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
The aforementioned cricket betting tips will help you in predicting the player of the match winner. Shikhar Dhawan is the best candidate to win the award as he will be keen on making a match-winning contribution for his side in this encounter.
Our toss prediction for the match between LSG and PBKS is that the team winning the toss will opt to bowl first. This is the first match of the IPL 2024 season at the Ekana Cricket Stadium and teams might opt to play safe at the toss.
Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host an IPL match this season for the first time on Friday (March 30). The surface is expected to be fresh for the same reason, and at the start, it might be on the slower side and will only get better as the match progresses.
The score around 170-180 could be par at this venue. The cricket betting odds will be in balance to start with even as the weather is expected to be clear for the cricket match to take place.
Punjab Kings look like a settled team compared to PSG and hence, they are expected to win this match and register their second win of the season. LSG will show fight but might fall short eventually.
