The sixth of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings on March 25 (Monday). This is the first home game of the season for RCB with the match taking place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Having lost their opening game to Chennai Super Kings, the hosts will be looking to get off the mark with a win in this encounter.
On the other hand, the Punjab Kings are coming into this game after beating the Delhi Capitals in their season opener chasing down 175 runs in the final over. Another win will certainly take them to the top of the points table and the Kings will be motivated for such a grand start to their season.
Online cricket prediction for the IPL matches continue as we do the analysis of both teams in action:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru couldn’t change their history at the Chepauk against Chennai Super Kings in the season opener. But they will be delighted with the fact that they managed to post more than 170 after being five down for less than 100 runs at one stage.
The bowling attack needs to be consistent, especially their pace bowling attack led by Mohammed Siraj and Alzarri Joseph. For now though, they will be keen on earning their first points of the season.
Faf du Plessis scored 35 runs off 23 balls against CSK after opting to bat. If not for a good catch from Rachin Ravindra, the RCB skipper was looking good to score big in the game.
Du Plessis opens the innings and the fact that he scored 84 runs last season against PBKS will also give him a lot of confidence. A lot will depend on how Faf performs in this match if RCB are to churn out two points of this fixture.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Alzarri Joseph has pace and can hurry the batters with it. He has a very good bouncer and if he uses it wisely, the Caribbean pacer can certainly pick wickets in a heap. Joseph endured a bad day at the office against CSK going for 38 runs in 3.4 overs. But it is only a matter of time before he is amongst wickets for RCB.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Punjab Kings will be delighted to have start their season on a high. A successful chase of 175 runs must have given them a lot of confidence.
Prabhsimran Singh has been a revelation for the side in the last two seasons while players like Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma are unstoppable on their day. PBKS will be looking to win their second consecutive game of the season.
Shikhar Dhawan is usually a slow starter but soon gets into the groove as the season progresses. The left-hander looked good with the bat against the Capitals scoring 22 runs off 16 balls before getting castled by his former India teammate Ishant Sharma. The southpaw will be eager to contribute more towards the team cause in this encounter and lead from the front for the Kings in this away game.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Harpreet Brar, the left-arm spinner, can turn out to be the best bowler for the Kings in this game. The left-arm spinner has troubled players like Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell in the past and for the same reason, his spell could be crucial in the context of the game. Brar was impressive in the previous game as well conceding only 14 runs in his three overs and picking up a wicket.
