AUS Vs NZ Key Stats

  • Head-to-head: Australia are dominating in numbers having won 95 matches out of 141 against New Zealand who have won 39 while seven games have ended in no result.
  • Best Bowling Figures: Shane Bond proudly owns this record having picked up six wickets for just 23 runs in March 2003 during the World Cup in South Africa.
  • Best Individual Score: Australia opener Matthew Hayden arguably played the best knock of his career in Hamilton in February 200. He smashed an unbeaten 181 to decimate the Kiwi bowling attack in their own den.
  • Last match: The two teams last faced in an ODI in Cairns in September 2022. Australia posted 267 runs batting and defended it to win the match by 25 runs.

AUS Vs NZ Match Preview

The trans-tasman rivals Australia and New Zealand will lock horns against each other on October 28 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The two teams have been involved in a lot of thrillers including the one in 2015 World Cup as well.

Australia are looking in good shape at the moment with three wins on the trot while New Zealand too are also sitting pretty with four wins in five matches so far. Their only loss has come against table toppers India.

Australia Preview

Australia started their World Cup campaign poorly with losses to India and South Africa. But they have regained their mojo winning their next three matches and are coming off a record 309-run win over the Netherlands in Delhi.

Now that they have moved to Dharamsala, they will be looking forward to the pacers doing their job perfectly here.

There is no update on Travis Head at the moment with Pat Cummins confirming that the opener will take a few days to regain full fitness and take the field. As for the playing combination, Australia are certainly looking good and they are unlikely to make any changes to their line-up unless Marcus Stoinis regains fitness.

Australia Lineup
Josh Inglis, Pat Cummins, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head

Australia - Who Will Be The Best Batter?

Steve Smith is finally back amongst runs. He played a brilliant knock of 71 runs off 68 balls in the game against the Netherlands batting at number three.

His return to form ahead of the New Zealand clash is key for Australia. Among all the fierce hitters of the ball, Smith could be the best batter for the Aussies in this encounter.

Australia - Who Will Be The Best Bowler?

Dharamsala has provided the maximum swing for the pace bowlers in the ongoing World Cup in India. Mitchell Starc might have started to lick his lips already with the kind of swing he can generate if the conditions are helpful. The left-arm pace bowler will be surely looking forward to add to his World Cup tally in this game.

New Zealand Preview

New Zealand might have lost their erstwhile encounter against hosts India, but they made sure the opposition earned every run before going down for the first time in the mega event this year.

They have won four out of five matches so far and will be looking to shrug off the loss to India and return to the winning ways. However, they will miss their skipper Kane Williamson who continues to recover from injury.

New Zealand Lineup
Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, James Neesham

New Zealand - Who Will Be The Best Batter?

New Zealand are lucky to have someone like Rachin Ravindra in their playing XI in the absence of their captain Williamson. Ravindra has displayed immense maturity at key situations and something of similar sorts will be required from him to take the Kiwis to safey shores.

Ravindra will be delighted with his half-century knock against India and will be looking forward to adding more runs to his tally.

New Zealand - Who Will Be The Best Bowler?

Trent Boult was never away. The man has returned to the ODI side just before the World Cup and has made the batters dance to his tunes.

Boult has more often than not has struck with the new ball in this mega event. Clearly, his new-ball spell in determining the overall result of the match at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala.

AUS Vs NZ - Who Will Be The Player Of The Match?

It is a very tough prediction to do with both teams not being clear faovurites to win this encounter. However, it seems one of the bowlers from both sides will win this the Player of the Match award. We have gone with Boult for this award in this match who might turn the game on its head with his bowling.

AUS Vs NZ - Who Will Win Today's Toss?

The HPCA stadium in Dharamsala witnessed 274 runs getting chased in the last game. But the ball moves a bit under the lights as well. However, with this being the day game, it is only imperative for the team winning the toss to bowl first to maximise the early moisture advantage with the new ball.

AUS Vs NZ Venue, Pitch and Weather Report

The HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala is set to host its last match of this World Cup. So far, in the four matches that have been played, two each have been won by teams batting first and second. After the moisture vanishes, the pitch is expected to be a belter for both teams.

As for the weather, it is set to stay clear with the temperature around 15-18 Degrees Celsius. There is no rain in the forecast on Saturday morning on Dharamsala.

AUS Vs NZ Match Winner Prediction

This match is a tough one to predict but looking at the moment they have, New Zealand are the favourites to win this match.
