The 57th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 8 (Wednesday).
This match is scheduled to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and will get underway at 7:30 PM IST. This is the first time the two teams are facing off each other this season.
Such is the situation of both teams that the loser of this match will likely not make it to the playoffs. LSG are coming off a big loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders while SRH went down to Mumbai Indians.
Interestingly, all their remaining matches will be played at home including the one against LSG and it remains to be seen if they can make the most of the home advantage.
We now move to the analysis segments where we study both teams in detail and provide you with the match prediction:
Sunrisers Hyderabad are also in a similar position like their immediate opponents but their nt run-rate is comparatively better. However, even Pat Cummins and his men can’t do without a win.
It has been long since Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have clicked in unison and this could be the perfect to come up with fireworks. The bowling attack has lacked a genuine spinner but Cummins and Natarajan have done well and will need the support of other bowlers at the back end of the season.
Its time for Travis Head to unleash his full potential yet again. He has amassed 444 runs so far in 10 matches at an average of 44.4 and a strike rate of 189.74.
Not long ago, he was striking at more than 200 which means teams have managed to keep him quite. He has smacked a century and three fifties as well and one more three figure score can bode really well for SRH at this stage.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Pat Cummins is known to be leader who wants to step up in tough situations for his side. The man has done the difficult job of leading a side really well and has also picked up 13 wickets with the ball. His economy of 9.02 might be on the higher side but Cummins has picked crucial wickets right through the season.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Lucknow Super Giants are currently at the fifth position with five losses after 11 matches and are in desperate need to win their remaining matches. A 98-run loss at the hands of KKR has worsened their net run-rate.
The likes of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran will have to step up in Hyderabad with pitch expected to be flat. The bowling attack too will have to come up with plans to restrict the opposition batting line-up.
Marcus Stoinis has been batting well ever since he has been promoted to number three. He has scored 352 runs so far in 11 innings at an average of 39.11 and a strike rate of 153.71. Stoinis also has a century and two fifties to his name this season. He will have to showcase his range of strokes in Hyderabad now where the ball comes on the bat nicely.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Naveen-ul-Haq will have to lead the bowling attack from the front given that he has more international experience among pacers.
He has also picked up 10 wickets so far in seven matches at an average of 23.4 and has conceded runs at economy of 8.83 which is decent. Naveen will have to come up with more than a decent spell to make sure LSG dominate this game.

The betting tips provided with the analysis of players and teams will be helpful to guess the player of the match award winner.
Head is due for a big score having amassed 444 runs so far in 11 matches at a strike rate of 189 which is intimidating for any opposition and he can turn the game on its head with a blistering knock in this game thereby winning the man of the match award.
Our toss prediction today for the clash between SRH and LSG is that the team winning the toss will bat first. The venue has been full of runs this season and teams have tended to bat the opponents out of the game. For the same reason, the trend will continue to bat first.
This is the fifth match of IPL 2024 in Hyderabad. Three out of four matches played here have been won by teams batting first but the margin of the previous win was just one run for SRH against RR.
Nevertheless, the pitch is expected to be a belter for strokeplay and it should be another game of 200+ totals. The best betting odds will be in favour of SRH a bit being the home team. But the weather forecast is iffy as showers are predicted right through the day and even at 6 PM ahead of the match.
SRH are expected to beat LSG in this encounter. Cummins’ army has the firepower to post and chase big totals but the same cannot be said of LSG’ batters who have gone considerably quite in the last few matches. Expect SRH to churn out two crucial points out of this encounter.
