The fifth match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season will be played between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United. The clash is scheduled to take place on February 20 at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. It will commence at 8 PM IST with the toss scheduled at 7:30 PM IST.
Both teams began their season with wins in their respective opening games. It was also comprehensive victories for them as the Sultans are on top of the points table.
On the other hand, Islamabad United are second while Quetta being the other team with a win so far. This is a chance to continue the winning momentum for both sides and they will be keen to do so.
Who will win today’s match? We will answer this question in this article next:
Multan Sultans are coming into this game after beating Karachi Kings in convincing manner by 55 runs. They posted 185 runs batting first and then defended it with aplomb restricting the opposition to just 130 runs in their 20 overs.
It was a near perfect outing for them and the Sultans will be looking forward to add two more points to their kitty by winning this game too.
Reeza Hendricks normally opens the innings but found his groove early in the season batting at three. Against the Kings, the man scored an unbeaten 79 off just 54 balls with seven fours and three sixes.
Hendricks is one of the most technically sound batters and has the ability to go big having done it for South Africa before and also in SA20 and other leagues.

Early wickets are always crucial especially on flat decks being offered in the PSL and David Willey offers just that for the Multan Sultans.
Even in the last game against the Kings, the left-arm pacer swung the new ball and got rid of dangerous James Vince and then sent back Saad Baig off the very next ball to create panic in the chase for the Karachi side. His job will be again the same against a strong Islamabad United team.

While Multan Sultans defended a total in their previous game, the Islambad United are coming into this encounter having chased down a mammoth score of 196 runs in the season opener.
Their skipper Shadab Khan led from the front picking up 1/24 and then slammed 74* in the chase. The bowling needs to improve for the United if they are to go past the Sultans in their homeground.
Alex Hales is one batter who can win matches to his on his own irrespective of the league he is playing in. The opening batter scored 36 runs to start his season against Lahore Qalandars with five fours and one six.
He will be itching to go big soon with the bat early in the season. Against the Multan Sultans, Hales will be key as a lot will depend on the start he provides.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Player | MAT | R | BT. AVG | SR |
---|---|---|---|---|
Shadab Khan | 7 | 202 | 28.85 | 143.26 |
Colin Munro | 5 | 140 | 28 | 157.3 |
Shadab Khan’s main role is with the ball even though he shone with the bat in the season opener. His spin bowling was superb in the last game returning with figures of 1/24 in the match where almost 400 runs were scored.
Shadab’s variations will be key especially in the middle overs as teams tends to take the game away from that phase.

The aforementioned cricket betting tips will help you in predicting the player of the match correctly for this match. The Multan Sultans are the favourites given the way they won the last match and Hendricks’ consistency might win him the award again.
Our toss prediction for the fifth match of PSL between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United is that the team winning the toss will bowl first. Even though the previous game was won by team batting first, bowling first is likely to remain the favoured choice to start with.
Multan has so far hosted one match this season and 185 proved to be a winning score comfortably for the side batting first. The pitch is expected to be a belter yet again even as the cricket odds will be in favour of Multan Sultans to start with. The weather is expected to be clear without any chance of rain.
Multan Sultans are expected to win this match and register their second consecutive win of the season. Even though Islamabad United are a good team, they might struggle due to their bowling attack again.
