Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes will lock horns against each other in the 26th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) season. The match is set to be played on January 4 at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne and will commence at 1:45 PM IST. The Renegades are in a mess with five losses from seven matches this season.
They have to win all their matches and even then might not be able to qualify for the playoffs if other results don’t go their way. On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes are in a better situation than their immediate opponents and are at the fifth position in the points table.
Today’s match prediction is what follows next in this article:
Melbourne Renegades have themselves to blame for the situation they find themselves in at the moment. They are languishing at the bottom of the table after losing five out of seven matches and have only three points to show for their efforts.
They are more or less out of the race to make it to the playoffs as three wins in remaining matches might also not be enough for them.
Jake Fraser-McGurk is the only batter who has looked comfortable with the bat for the Renegades. He has scored 189 runs in six innings at a strike-rate of more than 176.
McGurk is the one batsman who can literally pull the Renegades out of this mess currently with the kind of hitting ability he possesses. But he has to be consistent enough to do so and the team will be hoping for him to do it in this encounter.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Will Sutherland is the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Melbourne Renegades this season. She has picked up seven wickets in six innings at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 17.8.
Sutherland has done well with the ball this season and would be hoping to add more wickets to his tally in the game against the Hurricanes.

Hobart Hurricanes trumped Sydney Thunder in their previous to return to the winning ways. They have so far won only two matches in five outings and are slowly entering the must-win territory with only four matches to go in the league stage after the encounter against the Renegades.
A win will surely keep them in the hunt to make it to the playoffs though but a loss will certainly make things complicated for them. Clearly, the Hurricanes would be eager to keep their best foot forward and add two crucial points to their tally.
Maclister Wright has impressed with his batting so far in the tournament for the Hobart Hurricanes. He has scored 130 runs in three matches at an average of 43.33 and a strike-rate of 162.50.
He has hit a fifty so far with 63 being his top score and smacked nine fours and 10 sixes so far. Hurricanes will be hoping that Wright continues his good run with the bat.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Nikhil Chaudhary, the Indian origin player, has sent down only five overs in two innings but he has picked up two wickets already. Moreover, his economy of 6.2 is the best for the Hurricanes and has the ability to pick more wickets with his spin bowling.
Chaudhary might get to bowl full quota of four overs in the next game with the way he has bowled so far.

We will provide you with best today’s toss prediction for the 26th match of the season. Targets like 163 and 178 have been chased down in the last two matches at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne and for the same reason, the team winning the toss should opt to bowl first.
Docklands stadium in Melbourne is hosting its third game of the season with team batting second winning both matches. The average score batting first this season is around 170 and clearly that doesn’t seem to be enough.
The betting odds will be in balance to start with atleast even as the weather will continue to remain cloudy with little chance of rain.
Hobart Hurricanes are expected to win this match against the Melbourne Renegades and continue their winning run. However, given the must-win situation of the Renegades, even they might come hard at the Hurricanes but eventually, we are backing for the Hobart side to prevail.
