The 22nd match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to take place between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators on March 6 (Wednesday). The clash is scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium in Rawalpindi and will commence at 2:30 PM IST with toss taking place at 2 PM.
The race for the playoffs is well and truly heating up. Clearly, the time is running out for teams especially Karachi Kings who are at the fifth place with only two wins from six matches so far. On the other hand, the Gladiators more or less needs a win to confirm their place in the top four having won four matches thus far in six outings.
Match prediction today will be about the winner of this mouthwatering clash between Karachi and Quetta:
Karachi Kings have struggled immensely this year and moreover, Kieron Pollard skipping the match for an event in India crippled them for the last game. They have lost their last three matches and are coming off a 20-run loss at the hands of Multan Sultans. They are still alive in the tournament but are getting into a must-win territory now to make it to the playoffs.
Shoaib Malik is the second highest run-scorer for Karachi Kings this season even as his strike-rate has been the main bone of contention. Malik has scored 177 runs in six matches so far at an average of 29.5 and a strike-rate of 117.21. More is expected off a veteran like Malik and the franchise will be hoping for him to put up a show with the bat in this game.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Hasan Ali has the experience of bowling at the international level and is the top wicket-taker of Karachi in PSL 2024. The man has picked nine wickets so far in six matches at an average of 23.55. But his economy is at the higher end (9.08). However, Hasan Ali bowls the tough overs and the team will need wickets from him up front to have any chance of going past the Gladiators.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Quetta Gladiators’ last game against Islamabad United was abandoned due to rain and didn’t hurt them much. Instead it has just helped them as they are at the second position right now with four wins from six matches and have lost only once so far. The Gladitors have a great chance to almost seal their place in the playoffs with a win in this game.
Jason Roy’s belligerence at the top is certainly helping the Gladiators when it comes to quick starts. That is actually providing a massive platform for the batters to come and Roy has been doing it having scored 200 runs in five matches at an average of 40.
However, his strike-rate of 152.67 is making the difference for them. Another game with that strike-rate and Quetta will take one step closer to confirming their playoff spot.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Abrar Ahmed is the highest wicket-taker for Quetta in PSL 2024 so far with 10 wickets to his name. More than the wickets, his mystery spin is keeping the batters guessing and building pressure on them which eventually leads to wickets. Abrar also picked three wickets in the last game against the Karachi Kings and will be hoping to repeat the heroics in this encounter.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
The aforementioned cricket tips will help you in predicting the player of the match winner for this crucial match in PSL 2024. Quetta are the favourites to win and it is very much possible that Roy wins it for the quickfire start he is likely to provide to his team.
The team winning the toss is expected to bowl first in the 22nd match of PSL 2024. IN the only match played so far in Rawalpindi, team chasing has lost but to make sure of the conditions on offer, the trend of bowling first should continue.
Rawalpindi will host only its second match of the season with earlier matches getting abandoned due to rain. Islamabad United defended 196 in the only match that has taken place so far The pitch is expected to be very good for batting and expect big scores in this game too.
Today’s cricket betting odds will be in favour of Quetta Gladiators even as the weather is expected to be cloudy with minimal chance of rain.
Quetta Gladiators are expected to win this match and accumulate two crucial points. However, Karachi Kings will definitely fight till the end only to fall short in a close encounter.
