Brendon McCullum was one such player who created history by scoring the first-ever century in the tournament’s inaugural game back in 2008. It took almost 15 years for the Kolkata Knight Riders to find their second centurion, with Venkatesh Iyer achieving this feat in 2023.

Iyer scored 104 runs off 51 deliveries against Mumbai Indians on April 16, 2023. He hit six fours and nine sixes during his innings. KKR reached 185 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs because of Iyer’s masterclass. But that was not enough, as KKR lost the game by five wickets.

He has scored over 200 runs in five games this season and might end the century draught for the team in the upcoming games.

Which team will score the most centuries this season?
Royal Challengers Bangalore have been the team with the highest number of centuries in the Indian Premier League for several years, and they are likely to continue to hold this record this season. This season, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are currently among the top ten highest run-getters in the tournament. Despite being a part of the tournament since 2012, du Plessis has yet to score a century. However, he has the potential to change this record this year and finish the season with the most centuries.
