The 27th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season will see Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals locking horns against each other. The clash will be played on April 13 (Saturday) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International cricket stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh and will commence at 7:30 PM IST.
The Kings lost their previous game by just two runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad and have now lost three out of five matches. On the other hand, the Royals too are coming off suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of Gujarat Titans. Both teams will be desperate for two points and expect this match to be a close on.
Who will win today’s match? The answer of this question will be given next in the article with analysis of both teams in action:
Majority of Punjab Kings’ matches have gone to the last over this season so far. They were unlucky not to win the previous game but their top-order batters like Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh will have to click as a lot is being left to do for the likes of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma.
Moreover, Liam Livingstone’s fitness is also a major concern for them who has missed the last two matches.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of the best players of Punjab Kings and the captain has to lead from the front now to motivate the other batters. He has scored 152 runs so far in five matches at a strike-rate of 125.61 with one fifty to his name.
Opening the innings, Dhawan will have to make sure he plays for the major part of the innings with other batters revolving around him and result might change for the Kings.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Arshdeep Singh returned to his best in the last game picking wickets upfront and at the death. He picked up 4/29 against the SRH taking his tally to eight wickets in five matches and the left-arm seamer will be hoping to continue in the same vein. His economy of 8.72 is on the higher side a bit but the Kings won’t mind it as long as he is picking wickets.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Rajasthan Royals are the in-form team at the moment despite their loss in the previous game. They have won four out of five matches so far and are at the top of the points table.
The form of Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag in the middle-order has made up for inconsistency of openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Their bowling is in perfect shape too that makes it extremely tough to beat the Royals.
Riyan Parag has been extremely consistent this season with three fifties in five matches so far. He has amassed 261 runs at an average of 87 and a strike-rate of 158.18.
His batting position of number four has given him a new lease of life in IPL and the Royals are reaping rewards for keeping faith in him over the years. Parag will be keen on continuing in the same vein in the upcoming matches too.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Yuzvendra Chahal is the proud owner of the purple cap at the moment. He picked up two wickets for 41 runs in the last game and has overall picked up 10 scalps at an average of 13.2 and a strike-rate of 10.8.
Chahal’s spell in the middle overs will be very crucial as the Kings possess aggressive batters through their line-up. A lot will depend on his spell in this match.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
The aforementioned cricket betting tips will certainly assist you in making informed decisions when it comes to predicting the player of the match award winner of this clash.
It is time for the captain to lead from the front and Shikhar Dhawan should win the player of the match award. He has scored 152 runs so far in five matches and he can make the match-winning impact with the bat.
Our toss prediction for PBKS vs RR clash is that the team winning the toss would look to bowl first. Only one match has been played in the evening this season in Chandigarh and it witnessed almost 29 runs being scored off the last over. Chasing could be a preferred option here in PBKS vs RR clash.
Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium has hosted two matches so far and the target of 175 runs was chased down successfully while a team defended 182 runs to win by just couple of runs. The pitch is once again expected to be good for batting with the par score expected to be around 190.
The weather in Mullanpur is expected to be good for cricket with temperature hovering in the 30-35 Degrees Celsius. As for cricket betting odds, they will be in balance to start with.
Punjab Kings are expected to win this match as they are playing their third match at the venue this season. They chased 175 and just fell short of 183-run target by just two runs.
On the other hand, the Royals are playing here for the first time and might take time to adjust to the conditions. Punjab Kings should register their third win of the season beating the Royals.
