The much-awaited blockbuster T20I series between New Zealand and Australia is set to commence. The first T20I is scheduled to be played on February 21 (Wednesday) at the Sky Stadium in Wellington. The match will commence 11:40 AM IST as the teams will look to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Australia have named a full strength squad for this series keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, New Zealand will miss their skipper Kane Williamson as he awaits the birth of his child. Daryl Mitchell is also unavailable due to injury while Mitchell Santner will lead the Kiwis in the series opener.
Who will win today’s match? We will answer this question in this article next:
New Zealand are coming off a 2-0 series win in Tests against South Africa while prior to that, they defeated Pakistan by 4-1 in T20Is.
The set up is perfect for the Kiwis in the World Cup despite unavailability of few players. But Australia is the toughest opponent in this home season for them and they will be challenged on this tour.
Devon Conway plays his best cricket against Australia. He might be struggling at the moment for some reasons but the left-hander is a talented batter and will take a lot of confidence from his last knock of 92 runs against the Aussies.
Conway has played 44 T20Is smashing 1275 runs and will have to bring his all his experience into account to play a match-winning knock for his side.

Tim Southee is ageing like a fine wine it seems. The man is performing better with age at the moment and he will be itching to put his best foot forward against the Aussies.
He has the experience of playing 121 T20I matches in his career and has also picked up 157 wickets which makes him a candidate to become the best bowler for New Zealand.

Australia, meanwhile, will be led by Mitchell Marsh despite the presence of ODI World Cup winning captain Pat Cummins.
They seem to be clear about their World Cup plans but this could be their only series with a full strength squad before the mega event. The visitors are also coming into this series on the back of a 2-1 series win over West Indies at home.
Small grounds will certainly excite Glenn Maxwell to play his best cricket in Wellington. The man played a brilliant knock of 120 runs in the second T20I against the West Indies smashing his record fifth century in the format.
Maxwell has the ability to turn the game upside down in no time which makes him the ultimate match winner.

Mitchell Starc brings out his best in alien conditions every time. He is playing after a little bit of rest and will be fresh too for the New Zealand tour.
With World Cup on the horizon yet again, the left-arm seamer will bring all his experience of 58 T20Is into account in which he has picked 73 wickets so far. He will be keen on adding more wickets to his tally.

The aforementioned cricket betting tips will certainly help you in predict the correct player of the match award winner for the first T20I. There are no favourites currently for the series opener but Conway or Starc might end up making a match-winning impact.
Our toss prediction for the first T20I between New Zealand and Australia is that the team winning the toss will bowl first. The surface will be absolutely flat, as they are in New Zealand generally, and with small boundaries on offer, clearly, batters will have fun.
Sky Stadium in Wellington has hosted 21 T20Is so far with an average score of 150 batting first. But the highest score recorded here has been 219 by New Zealand vs India.
The pitch is expected to be a belter to bat on. The cricket odds will be in balance to start with while the weather in Wellington is expected to be cloudy during match time but there is no chance of rain.
Australia are playing a full strength side and they are expected to win this match and take a 1-0 lead in the series. New Zealand will miss Williamson in the series opener alongside Mitchell even though they will definitely put up a fight.
