The eighth match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season is set to be played between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators on February 22 (Thursday).
The match is scheduled to be played at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore and will commence at 7:30 PM IST. The Gladiators have won both their matches so far and are at the second position in the points table.
On the other hand, the Islamabad United suffered a five-wicket loss at the hands of Multan Sultans in their last game and are at the third position in the table. The Gladiators will be keen on making it three wins on the trot while the Islamabad unit will be looking to return to the winning ways. Expect this to be an enthralling encounter in Lahore.
Who will win today’s match? We will answer this question in this article next:
Islamabad United started their campaign on a high with a win but went down fighting in their last outing against Multan Sultans.
They could only post only 144 runs with the bat and then couldn’t defend it despite taking the match into the last over. Nevertheless, the team’s fighting spirit should keep them in good stead as they will look to return to winning ways.
Agha Salman has been the man in form for the Islamabad United so far this season. He has scored two half-centuries in as many matches mustering 116 runs so far at a strike-rate of 156.75.
It is important for them that Salman keeps clicking with the bat consistently even as the batter himself will be looking to play a big knock yet again to help his team win its second game.

Naseem Shah seems to have found his rhythm now returning from injury. The man has picked up three wickets in two matches now and has his pace above 140 kph too.
He can swing the new ball prodigiously and run through opposition batters in quick time. Naseem’s spell upfront with the new ball will be crucial if Islamabad are to return to winning ways.

Quetta Gladiators have got off to a scintillating start in the ongoing edition of PSL winning both their matches so far. Their batting has clicked in both matches so far posting a total of 206 runs and then chasing down 188 runs.
Bowling has to improve but under new captain Rilee Rossouw, the team is performing well and will be keen on continuing their winning run.
Jason Roy is one player who can demolish the opposition bowling attack with his batting in powerplay itself. He smashed 75 runs off 48 balls against the Peshawar Zalmi and then was dismissed for 24 runs against Lahore.
Roy has the ability to win the match singlehandedly and is looking in good touch at the moment. A lot will depend on how he performs in the first few overs against Islamabad.

Akeal Hosein has a big heart. The spinner bowls in the powerplay and more often than not does the job for his captain. He has done the same so far picking up three wickets. Moreover, he returned with figures of 2/17 in his four overs and will be keen on picking wickets up front in this game as well.

The aforementioned cricket betting tips will help you in predicting the player of the match winner for this match. The Gladiators are the favourites to win this match and hence, either Roy or Hosein could end up making the match-winning impact.
Our toss prediction for the eighth match of PSL between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators is that the team winning the toss will bowl first. The pitches at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore have been flat and no score seems to be safe at the venue.
Lahore has hosted the majority of the matches so far in PSL 2024 and it has been a high-scoring venue. The surface is unlikely to change for this match too even as the cricket odds will favour the Gladiators looking at their form and squad combination.
The weather, meanwhile, is expected to be clear with no chance of rain.
Quetta Gladiators are expected to make it a hattrick of victories with a win in this encounter. Islamabad United will come hard at them but Gladiators might turn out to be too good for them.
