The 27th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to take place between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans on March 10 (Sunday). It is an afternoon game of the double header day and is scheduled to be played at Rawalpindi cricket stadium in Rawalpindi at 2:30 PM IST with toss taking place at 2 PM.
The playoffs are approaching fast in PSL 2024 and the race has also become intense. Multan Sultans have already made it to top four but Islamabad are in a must-win situation to qualify. This is the final league stage encounter for them and they cannot afford to lose.
Cricket prediction of this match is what follows in this article with detailed analysis of both teams.
Islamabad United might be at third place in the points table with nine points. But this is their last game and they cannot leave their qualification to other teams and will have to win this match at any cost. They have been inconsistent this season with four wins and as many losses and are coming off a five-wicket win over Karachi Kings.
Agha Salman has been consistent this season almost right through. He started off the tournament well, then tapered off a bit but is regaining his mojo yet again. Salman has scored 262 runs in eight matches thus far at a strike-rate of 145.55 and has the ability to go big in crunch games. His form will be helpful is Islamabad are to make it to the playoffs this season.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Shadab Khan has no option but to lead from the front with the ball like he has done multiple times with the bat. He hasn’t looked in his best form with the ball consistently yet.
Even then, the leggie has accounted for 10 scalps in eight matches at an economy of 7.67. His spell will more or less decide the fate of the match and also of the Islamabad United.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
Multan Sultans have been in terrific form this season right from the word go. They are sitting pretty at the top of the table with six wins from eight matches.
But they are coming into this game after losing to Peshawar Zalmi in a close encounter by four runs. However, with playoffs approaching soon, Sultans would like to return to winning ways sooner.
Mohammad Rizwan is one player who hasn’t been at his absolute best opening the innings this season. Consistency is missing a bit but before the playoffs, the skipper will be keen on making amends.
He has scored 277 runs in eight innings so far with three fifties to his name. His strike-rate of 124.77 might be questionable and Rizwan will be looking to improve on that front in this match.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Mohammad Ali has been among top of the bowling all the time this season. His fast bowling has certainly batting lineups and he picked up three wickets in the previous encounter against the Islamabad United too.
Clearly, Ali will be key for the Multan side as well having picked up 14 wickets in eight matches so far. He is also at the second position in the list of top wicket-takers of the season.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
The aforementioned cricket tips will help you in predicting the player of the match award winner correctly for this match. Multan Sultans are favourites to win this match and Mohammad Rizwan might end up making a match-winning impact.
We will predict who will win the toss in this section. In the 27th match of the PSL between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, the team winning the toss will opt to bat first. Rawalpindi has been a bat first venue this season and teams might take the record into account.
Rawalpindi is hosting its last match of the season and it has been a sporting wicket this time around unlike previous seasons. A score of around 180 should be par yet again even as the betting odds for cricket are favouring Multan Sultans for now. The weather is expected to perfect with clear clouds and no chance of rain.
Multan Sultans are expected to win this match and regain their winning mojo back ahead of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Islamabad United might have to wait for other results to confirm their playoffs qualification this time around in PSL 2024.
