Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

25 Played Since 2008
RCB lead the head to head count wih 13 wins and 10 losses

The Delhi Capitals came into the IPL with their new name in 2019 after previously being known as the Delhi Daredevils. It was a big move for them off the field, and their hope is that they can use that to become a force on the field, winning games like this DC vs RCB clash. They have plenty to turn around though; they are the only team to never reach an IPL final, something they got a little closer to last season but still missed out.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium is home for the Capitals, and they will be looking to turn that into a fortress with their new team name pushing them forward. They would love to bring success to the region of Delhi, something that has been missing for many years. They have out the work in off the field, but can they make things work when their eleven players take to the cricket pitch and play?

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are another team never to win the IPL title, but they have played in finals in the past, something that Delhi haven’t. Their finals record is certainly something to worry about though, they’ve played three and lost them all, so psychologically it will be hard for them if they ever come close again. They play their home games at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, and fans there have been waiting a long time for success, can it happen this season?

The top run-scorer of DC is Virendra Sehwag while the top wicket-taker is Amit Mishra. In the inaugural edition of IPL, DC won their initial two matches against RR and Deccan Chargers. While the Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore are both teams who are capable on their day, they know that if they want to mount a challenge for their first IPL title seriously, they have to be beating teams like this. The Capitals won both meetings last season and will be looking to build on that this coming season. Although they had some tough times when named the Delhi Daredevils, this franchise is treating things as a new start, and another couple of wins over the team from Bangalore would do them no harm at all.

DC vs RCB 2019

The DC vs RCB 2019 meeting was a game that the Delhi Capitals won after posting a very good total during their first innings. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first, and they reached 187/5 from their 20 overs thanks to 50s from Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan. uzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for Bangalore with two wickets but even he failed to slow the Capitals down.

In reply to the total, the Royal Challengers Bangalore struggled, and no one could get going. They had both Parthiv Patel and Marcus Stoinis go over 30, and Stoinis remained not out, but no one could get that big score they needed to push on and challenge the total they were set. At the end of their 20 overs, they finished 16 runs short of winning the game, and it was Shikhar Dhawan with his 50 from 37 balls that took home the man of the match award in this one. Defending their home ground will be key for Delhi going forward, they need more wins like this one.
