For the first 8 IPL editions of IPL, CSK reached the knockout stages every single year, winning three IPL’s including when they won back to back titles back in 2010 and 2011. They have also won a recent title, lifting the trophy in 2018, but now the focus is on their next and when that will appear.
The team plays their home games at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, and this is a place that holds many great memories for both the players and fans of this franchise. The Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have both won the IPL more than once, showing they know what it takes to win in this incredibly difficult competition. While CSK are perennial winners, KKR fans believed their team punch way below its weight over the years.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have a celebrity owner in Shah Rukh Khan. Their home ground is Eden Gardens, which is the biggest in India by far. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has had a series of cricket superstars on its rosters over the years. KKR has, therefore, been one of the IPL teams that have always had a lot of attention on itself.
That is why the two titles it has won so far, in 2012 and 2014, have been a bit of a letdown. Then KKR were banned for two years over allegations of match-fixing. In the next two years after their return, they have picked up the trophy once and been runners-up once. This has made the KKR-CSK rivalry one of the most keenly followed ones in the history of the IPL. One of the most keenly followed rivalries in IPL has been that of KKR and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The head to head might be skewed in favour of CSK. But KKR vs CSK have seen some memorable matches so far, with stellar performances from both sides. Specialized coaching and practice sessions are now organized for batting, bowling, or fielding. Captains are now more willing to think out of the box to catch the opponent off guard.
In Dhoni and Kartik, both teams have wily leaders who can get the best out of their teams and lead by example. That is why IPL 2020 promises to bring us again at least two memorable clashes between these two highly respected and capable teams. Let us look forward to more such entertainers in IPL 2020.
Just like many games in the IPL, fans will be looking forward to seeing CSK vs KKR live. These are two franchises that will have their eye on winning the IPL, and because of that, we should be in for a very good game. Fans will be able to catch it live, or watch it through one of the many TV broadcasters that cover the IPL around the world.
The rights to show games are negotiated individually with each country, so check out your local listings to see which TV channel has you covered. This includes live streaming of games online; these are also negotiated. The good news is that these are available all over the world, giving fans the chance to see their favourite players regularly in one of the best T20 competitions.
The games between these two teams have always generated a lot of interest. In case you are unable to go to either Chennai or Kolkata in 2020 for the two league games, they will play, you have help at hand. There is, of course, the TV telecast you can enjoy. Additionally, IPL has put in place several deals with live streaming sites. This will ensure you don’t miss even a minute of the action.

We look forward to the 2021 installment of the IPL. We will publish are free CSK vs KKR prediction a few days before the match. Stay tuned.
The two teams have clashed 25 times so far, including the knockout rounds. CSK has 15 of these matches, stamping their authority over KKR head to head. But surprisingly, only Raina and Dhoni feature in the list of top 5 batsmen by runs in these 25 clashes. This is an indicator of how the entire lineup of CSK pitches in when needed, and scoring is not done just by a few players.
The bowling leaderboard for maximum wickets has 3 CSK players in Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bravo. An incident comparison between these two teams shows that CSK has the maximum win percentage of 61% in the IPL, despite being away for two seasons. They have also notched up the highest number of Fair Play Awards (6 so far).
KKR, on the other hand, holds the record for the longest winning streak in a single season in IPL history. They had nine wins on the trot in 2014. Since they won their first match in IPL 2015 as well, they also hold the record for most consecutive wins overall as well (10).
Also, Suresh Raina of CSK holds the record for the highest number of IPL matches played (193). His captain Dhoni holds the record for the highest number of matches as captain (174). Chris Gayle of KKR has won the maximum number of Man of The Match trophies in IPL so far (20). There is no doubt that KKR and CSK have been two of the best teams in IPL across seasons.
Games Played: 25
Chennai Super Kings wins: 15
Kolkata Knight Riders wins: 9
Looking back at those fixtures and over the past two seasons it is the Super Kings that have held the upper hand, showing dominance and winning four out of the last five games. The Super Kings are also very strong on their home, the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. The teams have met nine times there, and the Super Kings have come out on top in seven of those games, so when these two do meet at that stadium, it will be full of happy memories for the home side based on what has happened in the past.

Super Kings won by 6 wickets with Player of the Match: Ruturaj Gaikwad
KKR won by 10 runs with Player of the Match: Rahul Tripathi
The Chennai Super Kings came out on top again in the CSK VS KKR 2019 meeting at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, although this game was a far cry from the run-fest we saw in 2018. The Knight Riders went out to bat first and failed to put on any kind of total, ending their innings with a score of 108/9. Andre Russell starred for them here with an unbeaten 50 from 44 balls while Deepak Chahar was the leading wicket-taker for the Super Kings with three wickets for 20 runs from his four overs in the game.
The home side then went out and calmly knocked off the score required, reaching 111/3 from just 17.2 overs. They were led by South African Faf du Plessis, who scored an unbeaten 43 from 45 deliveries to hold his team together and ease them over the line. Sunil Narine bowled well for the Knight Riders taking two wickets for 24 runs, but he was unable to stop the Super Kings from winning this one.
Deepak Chahar took home the man of the match award for his bowling performance for the Super Kings, being the leading wicket taker in the game.
CSK came back stronger in 2019. They were up against a marginally smaller target this time. KKR wasn’t able to benefit from a 51 ball 82 by Chris Lynn and put up a score of only 161 in the first innings. CSK’s old warhorse Suresh Raina came well in this match. His 58 was ably supported by a typically swashbuckling inning of 31 by Ravindra Jadeja off just 17 balls. CSK won by five wickets, with two balls to spare.
The other game of IPL 2019 between these two great teams was played at Chennai. This time, too, CSK defeated KKR, keeping their 2019 head to head slate clean. KKR collapsed to 108 in 20 overs, with Andre Russell playing a lone hand with 50 runs in 44 balls. CSK made short work of the target with almost three overs to spare. Du Plessis scored an unbeaten 43.

The 2018 meeting between these two at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium was a high scoring classic. Both teams put over 200 on the board in the CSK vs KKR 2018 clash that wowed those who were lucky enough to be in attendance. It was the Chennai Super Kings that eventually came out on top, chasing down the 202 total that Kolkata had put on the board and winning the game with one ball to spare.
A quickfire 56 from just 23 deliveries from Englishman Sam Billings helped the Super Kings on their way, with Aussie Shane Watson contributing with both the bat and ball in this one, scoring 42 from 19 deliveries with the bad and being the top wicket-taker for his team with 2/39 with the ball.
Billings took home the man of the match award for this game, but it was Andre Russell of the Knight Riders who top-scored, with an unbeaten 88 from 36 balls. A fantastic innings, but not enough to get his team the victory, with the Super Kings taking home the points from this one.
