Match Prediction – SRH vs MI, 55th Match IPL 2021 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
It is the penultimate league encounter and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) square off against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
MI are still in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs, but a lot depends on the result of the game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). If KKR lose, the equation for MI is simple. They need to just win this encounter and they will be through.
However, if KKR win, MI will have to catch up with KKR’s net run rate which is quite far ahead, and it will also depend on KKR’s margin of victory (if they win). But the advantage for MI is that they will know exactly what they need to do to qualify.
The defending champions have been under the pump this season. Consistency just hasn’t been a part of their game with both bat and ball. The middle-order has wobbled and especially in this UAE leg, it just hasn’t turned up well. That has been a major concern for MI.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has led the pace attack superbly, but the spinners have been disappointing. But MI are known to stand up on the big day and they did that against RR, and they will be looking for one more big push.
On the other hand, SRH may well play party spoilers. They did that in the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the Kane Williamson-led side defended 141 and won by four runs. That win was SRH’s third this season and it almost rules out RCB’s chances of finishing in the top two.
SRH haven’t been at their best but there have been some promising signs in the last few games. They would want to finish the season with a win even though a wooden spoon finish is guaranteed.

Team News
Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH have had a poor season, but they may not make a lot of changes to the side that played against RCB. They could even go unchanged. If T Natarajan is fully fit, he could replace Siddarth Kaul.
Mumbai Indians
MI made a couple of changes in the last game against RR. Ishan Kishan replaced Quinton de Kock at the top of the order and also donned the gloves. James Neesham came in for Krunal Pandya. MI make not make too many changes to that side that played against RR. However, Rahul Chahar is likely to come back into the XI in place of Jayant Yadav.
Predicted XI
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Jason Roy, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul/T Natarajan, Umran Malik
Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma is at the top of the run charts for MI this season. He has amassed 362 runs from 12 encounters, and he has rarely had a low score. However, he hasn’t got a big score either.
Rohit will be key for MI with their middle order struggling to perform
The MI skipper has consistently got starts and he has looked set for a big knock, but he has thrown it away more often than not. He smashed a 13-ball 22 in the last game but couldn’t kick on and finish the run-chase for MI against RR.
Jason Roy: Jason Roy looked in solid touch in the last game against RCB. He scored 44 and got SRH off to a good start. The England opener has now got a couple of solid scores this season. In both games (out of four) that he went past 20, SRH ended up on the winning side.
Besides, Roy has good memories of playing against MI. He had smashed an unbeaten 91 against them in 2018 while playing for Delhi. Thus, Roy will be a crucial player for SRH, and they will be banking on him to once again provide a foundation at the top.
