Pakistan vs South Africa, 1st test match, 2021 Match Prediction

This is the first match of the Test series from the South Africa tour to Pakistan which will be played at Karachi on Tuesday 26th January 2021. This Test series is vital for both teams to secure a better rank in the ICC Test Championship. Currently, South Africa is at 5th position whereas Pakistan remains at 6th position in the points table. South Africa is looking in good form and they have defeated the Sri Lankan unit in their last Test series winning both matches. On the other hand, Pakistan have suffered 2 defeats in 2 tests against New Zealand in their previous series. However, in this home series against South Africa, they will be looking forward to taking home condition’s advantage to claim the series.

A look at the squad of both the team, South Africa looks much balanced and stronger compared to Pakistan. The South African unit got few test specialist bowlers in their rank. On the other hand, Pakistan lacks experience in the batting and bowling unit which can make a big difference.

Pakistan

New Zealand gave whitewash to Pakistan in their last Test series. Pakistan were not up to the mark in both the Tests as their team collapsed in front of New Zealand’s pace attack. Pakistan lost their first match by 101 runs as they could not chase New Zealand’s target of 373 runs in the second innings. In the second match also, New Zealand won by an inning and 176 runs as Pakistan collapsed down on just 186 runs in the second inning. Pakistan would be very disappointed following their performance in the last series and they will be looking to overcome that in this series. Good news for Pakistan is that their star batsman and captain Babar Azam is fit and back in the squad to lead the team. Agha Salman and Kamran Ghulam has been dropped from the 19-member squad which reduced the Pakistan Squad to 17 players for this Test series.

South Africa

The African side had a wonderful Test series against Sri Lanka as they won both matches from the series. Faf du Plessis was in good form with 199 runs in the first inning of the first Test match. Dean Elgar scored a brilliant hundred in the first inning of the match. Rabada will be hoping to get some reverse swing in the Asian conditions. With such a strong squad, South Africa will be looking forward to continuing that form in this series.
