Match Predicition Bangladesh Tour of New Zealand 2nd Test, January 09-13, 2022

Bangladesh has made history in the first test against the current ICC TEST CHAMPION, New Zealand. New Zealand was unbeaten for the past ten years in their home soil, but The Tigers have broken through the KIWIS shell and have beaten them in their own home ground. The win in this first Test match will boost the confidence of the Bangladesh squad. But still to win against New Zealand twice in New Zealand will be tough. And also the Kiwis will give their all to win this next match and maintain their position in the Test Championship points table.

Bangladesh has played sixteen Test matches against New Zealand and they have just won one match and that was the last match. It is the most successful result for the Tigers against the Kiwis and the result is quite the historic one for the Bangladeshi cricket fans. In the last five matches between the two sides, New Zealand went on to win 4 of them.

Who will win today’s match?

According to their recent performances in Test matches against Bangladesh and other Test-playing countries, New Zealand will be the favorite to win this match. New Zealand has played seven test matches in 2021, winning five of them.

On the other hand, Bangladesh is dealing with injuries. The main man for them at the top order, Tamim Iqbal, is out from the series with an injury and the peak performer for the Tigers in any format and former number one all-rounder in test, Shakib Al Hasan, is also out of the Test series for some family issues. As a result, New Zealand will have the upper hand over Bangladesh in this match.

The absence of New Zealand’s top performer across all the formats with the bat and the captain, Kane Williamson, is giving the team a very hard time as seen in the first test match. Devon Conway and Will Young will be the key in the top order to get runs and anchor the innings and Ross Taylor needs to carry the team batting in the middle order. The acting captain, Tom Latham also failed to contribute with the bat for his side.

On the other hand, almost everyone from the Bangladesh squad played very well to defeat the New Zealand team. Captain Mominul Haque played a captain’s knock and the youngster Mahmudul Hasan Joy played a very special knock in the first innings. Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored valuable runs and got Bangladesh in a strong position. If there’s one position the Tiger’s will try someone new is the Opening batting position and most probably Shadman Islam will be swapped out with Mohammad Naim.

  • Devon Conway has made his mark in the first test by scoring a magnificent hundred for his side and Will Young also got the fifties in both innings.
  • Though Ross Taylor and Tom Latham failed to score runs in the first match, they are still the pillars in the top order to score runs or to take their team to a good total.
  • Tim Southee and Trent Boult have proven themselves again as the main bowlers for their side in any format. Neil Wagner was also among wickets in the first match.

On the other hand

  • The opening pair is still not working for the Tigers as Shadman Islam failed to score runs in both innings.
  • Ebadot Hossain is proving handy with the old balls and getting wickets for his team. He is getting the balls to swing in the pacer-friendly pitches of New Zealand.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque as always will be the heart of their batting lineup.
  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz and the captain were also among the wickets and they needed to be among the wickets again if they want to give a proper fight to the Kiwis.

Game Changers for Bangladesh vs New Zealand

  • For New Zealand Trent Boult with the ball and Ross Taylor with the bat can be the game-changers.

  • For Bangladesh Mominul Haque with the bat and Taskin Ahmed with the ball can be the game-changers.

Devon Conway will be the best batsman for New Zealand as he is showing his potential from the very beginning of his career. He has played only four test matches and already got two hundred and two fifties.

Who will be the best batsman for Bangladesh?
