Match Prediction Australia vs England, 4th Test The Ashes 2021/2022

Usually when the New Year’s Test comes around, it is the fifth and final Test match of the Ashes and on the last few tours, the series would’ve been well gone. It’s the fourth Test this time around but the result is no different. The Ashes have already been retained by the Aussies. They’ve been absolutely clinical and a whitewash could well be on the cards.

Australia have been ruthless with both bat and ball. They’ve racked up significant scores consistently while the bowling attack has been doing a splendid job. Meanwhile, England are struggling big time. Barring a few moments or at the maximum, a few sessions, they’ve barely been in with a chance in either of the Test matches. The Joe Root-led side just haven’t turned up and have paid the price heavily. Now, with the Ashes gone, England will be hoping they can salvage something out of these last two Test matches and start 2022 on a positive note.

England last won the Ashes in 2015 at home before Australia got back the urn in the 2017-18 series down under. Since then, it has remained with them. England haven’t won a Test match on Australian soil since January 2011.

Head-to-head record

Wins: England 110, Australia 149, Draw 95

Last 5 matches: England 1, Australia 4, Draw 0

Who will win today’s match Australia vs England, 4th Test The Ashes 2021/2022??

Australia have been superb all-round. Their batting has fired and different batters have stepped up at various stages of the series. David Warner has got a couple of 90s while Marnus Labuschagne has been in top form. Steve Smith has just got one big score (93) but he hasn’t really looked out of touch. Marcus Harris got a score as well in the last game. Travis Head has batted really well too but he will miss this game due to COVID-19 and Usman Khawaja is likely to come in.

Meanwhile, the bowling attack has been such that every player that has come in has performed exceedingly well. Scott Boland outperformed his peers on debut while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have been very consistent. Jhye Richardson and Michael Neser fared well too in their only outing. Hence, the Aussies are looking absolutely dominant and will start this game as favourites.

England’s problem has been their batting. Barring Joe Root and to an extent, Dawid Malan, none of them have even made any significant contributions. The highest score from a batter not named Root or Malan is 44 from Chris Woakes. The other frontline batters haven’t even crossed the 40-run mark. Such has been the state of the England batting line-up. Their bowling has been better and have chipped in nicely. The veteran James Anderson has led the charge once again while Ollie Robinson has been impressive.
