Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand is set to commence on January 12 as the first of the five-match series will be played at the Eden Park in Auckland. The match is set to start 12:40 PM IST with both teams starting their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA.
The Kiwis have their captain Kane Williamson returning for the first time in 14 months while Pakistan are coming into this series after losing to Australia in Tests 0-3.
When it comes to the shortest format though Pakistan are a much-better side and have had the wood over the Kiwis as well winning 20 out of 34 matches played so far.
Today’s match prediction is what follows next in this article:
New Zealand embark on their preparation for the T20 World Cup with a five-match series against a strong Pakistan outfit at home.
After missing out on yet another ICC trophy last year in ODIs, the Kiwis will be keen on lifting one this time around and for the same reason, captain Kane is back. The BlackCaps will be looking to start the series on a high and take an early lead.
When Kane Williamson is playing, it is better to pick him as the best batter. He gives the assurance of hanging around in the middle and scoring runs in almost every game and that should continue in the series opener as well.
He has scoured 2464 runs in 87 T20Is so far and can add to his 17 fifties in the format in the first game.

There is not much for the bowlers especially at the Eden Park and hence, new ball becomes crucial. To exploit the early help, Matt Henry is the best bowler.
He can run through the opposition line-up in his opening spell itself. In the shortest format, Henry has picked 15 wickets in 13 matches and will look to add more to his tally.

Like it happened in Tests, Pakistan have a new captain in T20Is too and Shaheen Afridi will lead them for the first time. The left-arm pacer even rested in the last Test against Australia to be fresh and fit for this series.
Moreover, there is a chance of Babar Azam not opening the innings and clearly, the visitors are likely to take up the aggressive option from ball one with the bat. It will be interesting to see how Pakistan perform under new captain in this series.
Play him anywhere you want, when it comes to white-ball cricket, Babar Azam is the best batter for Pakistan.
The 29-year-old has played 104 T20Is for his country amassing 3485 runs at an average of 41.49 and a strike-rate of 128.41 with three tons and 30 fifties to his name. Even if he bats at three, Babar can make enough impact to become the best for Pakistan this game.

Babar Azam | 8 | 205 | 29.28 | 117.14 |
Mohammad Rizwan | 7 | 149 | 24.83 | 90.3 |
Shaheen Afridi will be itching to take the new ball and lead from the front for Pakistan. This is his first series as captain and the left-arm pacer would want to start his stint on a high.
He has picked up 64 wickets in 52 T20Is so far and makes the ball talk early on in the innings. Shaheen’s new ball spell will more or less determine how Pakistan will perform in the series opener.

The aforementioned free cricket betting tips will help the readers in determining the player of the match winner correctly in the first T20I. There are no clear favourites at the moment but the likes of Williamson or Babar might play key role for their team and end up winning it.
We will provide you with today’s toss prediction for the first T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan. With this being the start of the series, the side winning the toss is likely to bowl first and then chase down the total on what is a small ground in Auckland.
Eden Park in Auckland has witnessed a lot of runs in 28 T20Is hosted so far with 245 runs being the highest total chased here. Average first innings score here is 160 but clearly, the betting odds will be in balance to start with.
As for the weather, it will be cloudy mostly during the match time but rain is unlikely to hinder the proceedings.
It is very tough to predict the winner of this match but with New Zealand playing at home, they are the favourites. However, one shouldn’t count Pakistan out at all after having a look at their superior record in T20Is against the BlackCaps.
