The sixth match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) edition is set to be played on February 28 (Wednesday). The match will take place between Mumbai Indians Women and UP Warriorz at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and will commence at 7:30 PM IST. It has been the perfect start for the defending champions as they have won both their matches so far.
On the other hand, UP Warriorz have gone down in both their matches thus far and are languishing in the second half of the points table. With only eight matches played in the league stage, UP Warriorz will have to get their combination right soon before things start to go out of their hands this season.
Who will win today’s match? We will answer this question in this article next:
MI have been brilliant, to say the least so far this season. They are well on their way to defend their title at the moment as they are sitting at the top of the points table.
Also, their two wiins over Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants have been comfortable chasing down modest totals. MI will certainly be looking to make it a hattrick of wins and strengthen their position at the top.
MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been in top form this season so far. She is batting in the middle-order and has guarded the ship for the Mumbai Indians in both matches. Kaur has scored 101 runs in two matches in WPL 2024 and is among top run-getters of the season already.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Shabnim Ismail has pace that can trouble any batter in the world and she has prove her mettle so far in two matches played. She is one of the, if not the fastest bowler in the world and has picked up four wickets this season in two matches at an average of 10.5 and has conceded only 42 runs in eight overs. A lot will depend on how she delivers with the new ball for MI in this game.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
UP Warriorz have got off to a forgettable start to their campaign in WPL 2024. They lost their season opener to Royal Challengers Bangalore by just two runs but were absolutely thrashed by Delhi Capitals in their previous outings.
Their confidence must have taken a massive beating and MI are not going to be easy either. The Warriorz will have to let go of bad days and come up fresh to get the better of defending champions.
Tahlia McGrath is the best batter in terms of talent for the UP Warriorz. Batting at three, she is yet to set the stage on fire for the side.
After scoring 22 runs against RCB, McGrath failed to get going in their last game but she will be itching to make amends sooner rather than later. McGrath clicking is almost imperative for the UP Warriorz to have any chance of winning this game.
Top Batter Stats - Recent Matches
Sophie Ecclestone is the world’s best bowler and it is massively important for her to pick wickets at any stage of the game for them. The left-arm spinner picked up a wicket against the RCB but went wicketless against the Capitals. Ecclestone is a match-winner in her own terms and her four-over spell will be hugely crucial for the UP Warriorz against MI.
Top Bowler Stats - Recent Matches
The aforementioned cricket betting tips will help you in determining the player of the match award winner in this match. MI Women are the heavy favourites at the moment and either Harmanpreet or Ismail are the likeliest candidates to win the award.
Our toss prediction for the sixth match of WPL 2024 between MI Women and UP Warriorz is that the team winning the toss will bowl first. The batting only gets easier as the match progresses and bowling first seems to be the best option as of now.
Bengaluru is hosting the first half of this season and the pitches continue to be mixed bag. However, bowling first is better for any team. The cricket odds are clearly in favour of defending champions MI Women at the moment even as the weather is expected to be clear for the duration of the match.
Mumbai Indians Women are the favourites to win this match given their recent form and team combination. UP Warriorz will have to sort things very soon but even then, MI might prove to be too good for them.
